Okay, so just off the top of my head:

- we are the economic backbone of the whole country
- without us, you guys would cease to exist
- we share borders with the Spanish, so we're important strategically
- we control the Mississippi River
- traders have to travel through our land to do business w/ Caribbean Isl/S. America

Legislation:

- allow slavery in the Louisiana Purchase so # slave states = # free states
- authorize removal of Indians for plantations?
